Will you help us equip this important church for its future ministry?


A major church extension at St. Mark’s Versailles, to create an enlarged church and venue for community and inter-church events. Estimate €1.0 m to €1.2 m (including fees).
St. Mark’s current building was constructed in two phases, in 1993 and 1998, (replacing a c.19 church) with a view to a third and final phase which would incorporate a 250-seat worship area, better facilities for children’s and youth ministry, enlarged kitchen facilities and on-site parking. The church now wishes to proceed with this final phase, and the architects are now in discussion with the planning department; works will also be subject to competitive tendering. The congregation has to date given or pledged over €240,000 and is engaging in an active campaign of fundraising from local sources, companies and trusts but cannot apply to some UK trusts as it is non-resident. ICS has also raised over €47,000. The completed building will create a modern, well-equipped church and a day conference facility to serve the local and wider English-speaking communities (some estimate the latter to number 500,000) in the greater Paris region and other English-and French-speaking churches who will be able to use it for joint events. St. Mark’s will also be expanding its repertoire of Christian educational and training courses. The project will particularly improve facilities for the seventy-five pupil English-language school which aims specifically to improve the grammar, writing and spelling of children learning English. It will also create a building better suited to outreach into the locality through e.g. its availability for community events, St. Mark’s already having an active ministry to the homeless.
