Alpine Club of Great Britain: 150th anniversary service in St. Peter’s, Zermatt
ICS was delighted to organise this special service for the Club on Sunday 24 June 2007, many of whose past members have worshipped at the Church whilst in Zermatt. Some too are buried there, as several gravestones and plaques mark. The church too has an historic link with the climbing fraternity – one of Edward’s Whymper’s climbing party (Charles Hudson) who died on the descent after the successful British ascent is buried under the communion table. For more information about the Club click here The preacher at the service was Brian Underwood – for a copy of his sermon click here.
