David's Story
One of the first things I did was look for a church. One of my biggest uncertainties when I went to Bordeaux University was which church to go to. I went to the tourist information office and chose one at random from their list. What I really needed was advance information. However I did find one. Then I found the University CU of about 20 people - not many considering the tens of thousands of students on campus. The group was relaxed and friendly, and the meetings involved Bible study, prayer and singing. We had a weekend away, and met with other university groups. I found it very tempting to spend time with English friends, rather than making the effort to be with French people. I regret this, and if I could re-do my year abroad, would try and share a house with a French person. It was a great chance to experience a different culture and share what I believed with those I got to know. Although it was sometimes tough, I'd recommend it to anybody.
