ICS and your will

Your will is another means through which you can exercise responsible Christian stewardship, once the needs of your family/friends are provided for. Our Wills information pack includes a questionnaire to help you gather the information your solicitor will need to draft or update your will - see the bottom of this page to download a copy or request a pack. And gifts to registered charities such as ICS are free from UK Inheritance Tax. So, if you would like to leave a gift to ICS, may we suggest you print out this page and give it to your solicitors when instructing them.

I GIVE to Intercontinental Church Society (registered charity number 1072584) of 1 Athena Drive Tachbrook Park Warwick CV34 6NL United Kingdom the sum of ? pounds but if at my death the said Intercontinental Church Society has ceased to exist or has amalgamated with another charity or has changed its name this legacy shall not fail but my Trustees shall pay it to the charitable organisation which they consider most nearly fulfils the object which I intend to benefit and I DIRECT that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer of the charity shall be a full discharge to my Trustees

One word of caution: you may wish to request that ICS uses the gift made under your will for a particular purpose. If your gift is given say for 'campsite ministry in Italy' and when you die in thirty years time ICS no longer does campsite ministry in Italy, we will not be able to use your gift for the purposes you intended it - or we might have lots of money for that aspect of ministry, and really need the money for work elsewhere. We may even have to decline to accept it!

So to avoid this problem, if you wish to ask us to use your gift for a particular aspect of ministry, we suggest that you use the above clause as it is, and then leave a letter with your will (but do not pin or staple the letter - or anything else - to the will) explaining your wishes. Please use the following wording:

Note to my Trustees concerning the gift to Intercontinental Church Society in my will dated [insert date of will]

I express the wish but without imposing a binding obligation on the said Intercontinental Church Society that the said gift be used for the purposes of [describe the part of ICS's ministry that you wish to benefit]

Signed

Date

Using a letter like this means that you can change your mind later about the suggested purposes for which the gift is used, without the need to change your will.

A gift to ICS in your will help enable ministry to future generations of English-speaking people. Thank you.
