120
years of ministry
in Wengen

ICS
first held services for tourists in Wengens hotels around
1880.Thanks in part to the Downhill Only and Curling clubs
fame, Wengen (www.wengen-muerren.ch)
further increased in popularity, so we built the church in 1927
to cater for increasing visitor numbers. St.Bernards was dedicated
on 15 January 1928.
All services are conducted by English-speaking Anglican seasonal
chaplains who come as volunteers for two-week periods, covering
34 weeks a year. On average 35 people attend each of two services
every Sunday. The chaplains are also on hand to help anyone in need.
We enjoy good relationships with other churches in the village
indeed the Swiss Protestant congregation used the building for many
years whilst their own was being constructed.
ICS similarly owns, maintains and staffs St.Peters in Zermatt
as well as organising seasonal services in French resorts each summer.
Services are attended by people from many countries. Away from home,
relaxed, and in beautiful scenery, many who do not normally think
about God have time to do so.
We wish to repair, restore and improve St.Bernard s Church
so that many more who visit Wengen may hear of Christ, see his love
in action, and be taught faithfully to follow him. We need your
prayers and help to do so.

‘The
presence of the ICS seasonal chaplain and his Christian friends
in Switzerland led me to find new life in Christ.’
The
Revd Roger Scoones, who is now a frequent ICS seasonal
chaplain in Wengen.
