ICS Resort Mission: 150 Years in Zermatt Resort Mission CHaplain John Kinchin-Smith reflects on St Peter's day and recommends some great reads regarding St Peter's Church. St Peter's day falls on 29th June, the dedication and anniversary of the English Church. It gives the opportunity on the nearest Sunday to reflect on the two most important questions in the Bible: Jesus said to his disciples, "And who do you say that I am?" and to Peter, "Simon, Son of John, do you love me?" Pentecost often falls in early June - that wonderful Festival when we reflect on the Holy Spirit who comes to the believer in Christ and to the Church: to Fortify, to Purify, to Unify and to Glorify the Lord. For those who would like to understand more about the history of Zermatt and the mission of the English Church, we recommend several books by Cicely Williams who accompanied her husband, a former Bishop of Leicester, when he served for many years as the chaplain of St Peter's Church: A church in the Alps First published in 1970 to mark the centenary of The English Church (St. Peter’s) in Zermatt, Switzerland, this history tells the story of how the British came to Zermatt, climbed, walked, skied, and helped ICS build this famous church. "Zermatt Saga" and "A Bishop's wife but still myself." are also excellent reads.
