For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:8-10

We’ve looked in the past few weeks at different ways that we can make a difference as well as some practical ways that some of our chaplaincies are doing just that. The reason that we do this though is rooted in the gospel. As Christians we are called to love our neighbours without expecting anything in return.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:13-16

By helping others it should allow us to exhibit the heart of God and attract others to Him. Spreading the gospel is one of the best ways that we can make a difference and it is one of the main reasons why ICS exists and continues to carry out work across Europe and beyond.
