“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16

As Christians, our spiritual health is greatly impacted by why and how we give. We know that all that we have belongs to God. We also know of our responsibilities to offer what we have for the promotion of Christ’s Kingdom. Last week we focused on how we can give our money but this week we’re focusing on how we can give other resources that can help people.

God has given us the greatest sacrifice — his only Son. In doing so, he left us with a true example of what it means to give. He asks us to sacrifice as an act of worship before Him. And, when we obey He will bless us. In giving, motivation is crucial. God wants us to be cheerful, generous givers with humble hearts. He asks us to give as a response to His grace in our lives — even if what we have to offer is all that we have.

In Luke 3:11 John The Baptist addresses a crowd and says “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”

Many of us are in a privileged position where we can afford all of the resources we need to live a happy, comfortable life but there are many people who are not in that position and you will never know a full and joyful life until you are able to give out of generosity and shares what God has given you.
