What is Lent

Lent is a significant season in the year for Christians – a time of solemnity and self-reflection which lasts for just over six weeks leading up to Easter. It is called Lent as it is the time of year when days are getting longer in the Northern Hemisphere. From its start on Ash Wednesday until its conclusion on Easter Sunday.

What we do and why

ICS is an international Church of England mission agency to English-speakers who live, study, work or holiday abroad, in countries where English is not the main language. We do this by planting and growing international churches and by outreach to tourists through our seasonal chaplaincies.
