Christ Church Amsterdam celebrates 250 Years The weekend of 5-7 November, Christ Church Amsterdam celebrated being a church for 250 years at Groenburgwal 42, in the centre of the city. Bishop Robert was present. He unveiled a commemorative plaque and confirmed 16 members of the congregation on Sunday. Various concerts also took place. We give thanks to our Christ Church Amsterdam Church Council who helped in approving funds to make this celebration possible. And thank you Jesus for a good year of giving to make funds available to do so. Various historical figures like Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker and draughtsman), Vincent van Gogh (taught Sunday school in the winter and spring of 1878), Hendrik de Keyser (Dutch sculptor, merchant, and architect),and Jacobus Henricus van ’t Hoff (winner of the first Nobel Prize in Chemistry) have a connection with Christ Church Amsterdam. You can read more about that here. We were thrilled to share in the joy of 250 years at Groenburgwal 42. What an incredible milestone to bring people together and praise our God Almighty with our members, volunteers, visitors and neighbours!
