Our work Serving as a chaplain Serving as a chaplain Permanent Mission Besides a Mission Agency, ICS is also a Patronage Society owning church buildings and clergy housing across Europe as bases for outreach. We recruit and nominate chaplains to Diocesan Bishops to serve in cross-cultural mission and ministry in international Anglican churches. The chaplains are asked to fully subscribe to the ICS Basis of Faith. All chaplains linked to ICS work under the licence of the Bishop in whose Anglican Diocese they minister and work under his authority. Keep an eye on our vacancies. Resort Mission ICS sends out ordained Anglican Ministers and Licensed Readers to European resorts in Greece and Switzerland for a minimum of two weeks. It is an exciting ministry because while on holiday people have time to relax, think about their lives, their values, aims and priorities. These are unpaid, volunteer roles while ICS makes a modest travel grant. Resort Mission includes publicising and holding services and organising mid-week events. However, the majority of the work involves relating one-to-one to tourists, holiday reps, resort workers and local English-speakers who may know nothing of the Christian message. Therefore, we look for chaplains who are able to pastor and explain the gospel in a relevant and faithful way.The role can also involve visiting those injured or ill whilst on holiday and comforting the bereaved. In some cases a team can accompany the chaplain—an ideal training opportunity for people from your parish, or (in some circumstances) for ordinands. Associate Ministry Partners ICS links with Associate Ministry Partners, clergy who choose to link to ICS with their chaplaincy's support. We pray for them in the ICS Prayer Diary and they will be invited to the ICS Chaplains and Families' Conference. They fully subscribe to the ICS Basis of Faith.
