ICS Local Ambassadors

ICS continually needs to communicate our work and vision to prayer groups and churches, however, as a small agency our resources are limited.  Support in terms of prayer, encouragement, recruitment and giving will only grow if we have people ‘out’ meeting supporting-churches, potential supporters and our existing supportbase.

Therefore, we are continually looking to appoint ‘ICS Local Ambassadors’ to see if we can have an impact in this area. Time commitment would be variable, depending on time available.  The role is promotional and educational, not pastoral or managerial.

What would it involve?

  • to represent ICS in diocesan mission committees/events
  • deputation-speaking and strengthening links with supporting churches and ICS-linked chaplaincies
  • attending/supporting/starting local supporter prayer meetings initiating and/or speaking at local events (suppers, ‘A Taste of ICS’, coffee mornings, synods, mission days) for supporters and potential supporters
  • inviting Christians to support ICS either personally, or through trusts or organisations in which they are involved
  • alerting the ICS office to potential seasonal or permanent chaplains

Resources provided by ICS to support you

  • information about interested churches in your area
  • travel expenses (if not reimbursed by diocese or churches visited when promoting ICS), phone and stationery costs
  • publicity materials, books and cards
  • regular briefings from office on news and plans
  • help in organising events such as ‘A Taste of ICS’, prayer meetings, suppers etc.

WANTED: Gifted Council Members

ICS is governed by a Council who act as trustees for the ministry. We meet five times a year, once overnight, to bring oversight and direction to the work.

We are looking for Council Members who are committed to the life and work of ICS and have skills and gifts that will enhance our operation and performance.  We are people of prayer with a heart for mission.

We specifically require people with the following skills:

  • Financial
  • Legal
  • Property management knowledge
  • Member care experience

We are also keen to improve our representation of younger council members and women.
