I trained as a Chartered Accountant before going to theological college and then the Anglican Ministry.  First as a curate at St Thomas Crookes in Sheffield.

My wife had spent three months on Kibbutz in Israel I had been an accountant in Nigeria for five months so the opportunity to go abroad was attractive and we spent seven years in the parish of St John’s Wynberg, Cape Town in South Africa.

Returning to England we had parishes in Essex – first in Shoeburyness then Loughton.
