People & places Europe Switzerland Grindelwald Grindelwald, at the head of the Schwarze Lütschine river valley, nestles in the shadow of the Eiger mountain and is a great centre for exploring this part of the Bernese Oberland near Interlaken. ICS restarted summer mission in Grindelwald in 2013, with the chaplain from Interlaken travelling to lead worship on Sunday evenings and to visit during the week. In 2016, we moved from the Swiss Reformed Church to the Catholic Church, near the Station and Tourist Office. This location is more central but also a bit more hidden from view. We are very grateful to the authorities of both church communities for their warm welcome and support for our work. The Summer 2019 season has now ended, and so there are no more events in Grindelwald or Interlaken until June 2020. However, the chaplaincy in Wengen would be pleased to welcome visitors during their longer summer season and the winter season. Introducing the chaplains for the season, who will all be delighted to meet you. Chaplain’s Mobile +44 (0)7380 617 789 Sunday worship takes place each Sunday evening at 18:30. The Catholic Church can be found 50 metres up the hill (Grossenhausweg) opposite the Tourist Office If you wish to attend a service of Holy Communion, you are invited to travel to the services at Interlaken or Wengen on Sunday mornings. However, please note that, occasionally, our chaplains are not ordained (in which case they will not have the title 'Revd'), and so there may be weeks when these morning services may also be non-Eucharistic.
