Aquitaine 200 years

This year’s Chaplaincy Day in Aquitaine was especially meaningful as the chaplaincy celebrated their 200th anniversary.

Everyone was warmly encouraged to join on Pentecost Sunday to celebrate this truly wonderful event; a day of worship, fellowship and thanksgiving for two centuries of Anglican Christian witness in this beautiful part of France. At this day of worship and celebration, the chaplaincy’s new Chaplain, The Revd Canon John Bavington, was also licensed by Bishop Robert. Born and raised in Pakistan, John has served in contexts ranging from majority Muslim to rural private school chaplain. He previously was the Area Dean of Bradford and his knowledge of Urdu was immediately put to use in offering welcome to two young men who had arrived in France from Afghanistan.

After the service, everyone enjoyed a Buffet Lunch. In the afternoon, a Service of Praise and Prayer was held led by Revd David Marshall and Revd Canon John Bavington and the day was finished off with Afternoon Tea.
