Garden party fundraiser

On 10 June, the English-speaking Church on Ibiza and Formentera held a very successful Garden Party at the house of Sarah Milburn, the churchwarden. Over a 1000 Euros was made, all thanks to a very powerful team of helpers. There were garden party games, a bottle tombola, a raffle and for a donation, home-made scones and cake were served with a cup of tea. BBQ spare ribs and sausages were cooked by Bishop Henry Scriven, who had been our locum for the last few weeks. Quoits, ring toss and lemon balance were scattered around the garden where people wandered to see the koi carp, ducks and hens not to mention the amazing display of agapanthus! A special thank you to those that dressed their hats up, that were skilfully judged by Catherine Scriven: Solveig winning the adult section and Oliver the junior’s.

We have said goodbye to Bishop Henry and Catherine and have now welcomed Mike Starkey from Teddington, London. He led his first service at S’Hort de Can Masia on 29 June and is here for another four Sundays working through a few of the ‘Minor Characters’ from the Bible.

Our church is looking for a House-for-Duty Priest, details can be found here . Closing date for applications is 25 July. Do you know someone who would be a good fit?
